KL Rahul, who was named in the preliminary squad, is now under scrutiny following his underwhelming performances in the first two ODIs against England.
Rahul managed only 12 runs across both matches—scoring 2 in Nagpur and 10 in Cuttack—raising concerns about his form. The Indian team management has backed him over Rishabh Pant as the preferred wicketkeeper-batsman, but his recent struggles could force a rethink.
If Rahul fails to deliver in the final ODI in Ahmedabad, the selectors might consider an alternative, with Pant emerging as a strong contender. The BCCI has already signalled a performance-based approach by including Varun Chakravarthy in the squad despite him not being part of the ODI series.
